Our mission and core values are centered on delivering high-quality experiences for mental health professionals. The Uthymia Code of Conduct supports this mission by providing clear guidelines for engaging with our community both online and offline, promoting a secure and respectful environment. This code ensures that every member adheres to the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
We prioritize building trust with our members, partners, and sponsors and strive to create an environment where authentic conversations flourish and diverse viewpoints are both welcomed and respected. To maintain this trust within the Uthymia community, it is crucial that all members strictly adhere to our code of conduct.
This Code of Conduct governs your participation in any activities within the Uthymia Group community, including events and contributions as a member or user of any services we provide.
The Uthymia Group is committed to fostering a safe, healthy, and supportive community where members engage respectfully and adhere to a shared code of ethics. Any form of hate speech, harassment, or targeting based on an individual's identity, perspective, or any other personal attack—whether through words, actions, or other means—will lead to immediate termination of our services.
To better define expectations and protect our community, we encourage every member to carefully read and follow the guidelines for interacting on our community platform and at events.
Do's:
- Be an Active Participant: Engage thoughtfully in conversations, events, and activities. Your meaningful involvement helps foster a vibrant and robust community that benefits all members for the long term.
- Be Supportive: Remember, each time a member reaches out—whether they're asking a question, seeking assistance, or just looking to network—they deserve a human-first approach. Even if you're unable to provide help, it's important to respond kindly and promptly. Following the golden rule by treating others with respect and consideration builds a stronger, more compassionate community.
- Be Respectful: Recognize the diversity within our community and engage with authenticity, kindness, and positive intentions. Always strive to communicate with respect and understanding.
- Protect Privacy: Ensure all member interactions and events on the platform remain strictly private and confidential. Members should feel safe to share their experiences and seek assistance, trusting that their information will not be disclosed or publicized. Similarly, when discussing patient care, safeguard patient information with the same level of confidentiality you would in your professional practice. As mental health practitioners, it's essential to extend the same respect for confidentiality to Uthymia members as you would to your patients.
- Respect Intellectual and Legal Rights: Ensure your contributions do not infringe on any patents, trademarks, trade secrets, copyrights, or any other rights of others. Avoid violating the legal rights of others, including rights of publicity and privacy, and ensure your content does not conflict with applicable laws, our Terms of Service, or this Code of Conduct.
Report Violations of the Code of Conduct: If you witness or experience any actions that breach our Code of Conduct, please report them immediately. Ensuring our community remains a safe and respectful environment requires vigilance from all members. When reporting, provide as much detail as possible to help us effectively address the issue. Your reports are crucial in maintaining the integrity and safety of our community, and all submissions will be handled with the utmost confidentiality.
Don'ts for Uthymia Members:
- Don't Engage in Discriminatory Behavior: Refrain from making demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing remarks or actions based on gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability, or any other characteristic. Avoid the inappropriate use of nudity or sexual images, including in presentations, and do not engage in or glorify violence in any form.
- Don't Spread Harmful Ideologies: Do not support, glorify, or disseminate hateful ideologies including white supremacy, misogyny, anti-LGBTQ sentiments, antisemitism, xenophobia, and similar beliefs. Avoid disparaging victims of violent tragedies or promoting exclusion and segregation.
- Don't Misuse Information: Do not spread misinformation about diseases, crises, or engage in conversations that wish harm or illness on others. Refrain from using profane language to describe gender identities and avoid targeting individuals through misgendering, deadnaming, or revealing personal, identifiable information with malicious intent.
- Don't Disrupt Events: Ensure that your behavior at events and other community gatherings does not include harassment, stalking, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome sexual attention, or any action that could disrupt the event's respectful and safe environment.
- Don't Compromise Privacy: Never share another member's personal or identifiable information without their express consent. Treat all discussions, especially those pertaining to patient details, with the highest level of confidentiality, akin to your professional obligations as a mental health practitioner.
- Do Not Mislead or Deceive: Contributions should not deceive, promote illegal activities, or support any unlawful acts. Also, avoid posting content that could cause annoyance, inconvenience, or needless anxiety.
- Avoid False Representation: Do not impersonate others or misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or organization. Ensure your contributions do not imply endorsement by the Uthymia Group or any other entity unless such an endorsement exists.
- Refrain from Commercial Activities: Member contributions should not involve commercial activities, sales promotions, contests, sweepstakes, barter, or advertising unless explicitly authorized by the Uthymia Group.
- Post Inappropriate Content: Do not post content that is defamatory, obscene, indecent, abusive, offensive, harassing, violent, hateful, inflammatory, or otherwise objectionable. Refrain from promoting sexually explicit material, violence, or discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age.
Policy on Handling Violations of the Code of Conduct:
Initial Report When a report of a violation is received, it triggers an immediate review process. We encourage all community members to report any behavior that breaches our Code of Conduct, providing as much detail as possible to facilitate a thorough investigation.
Investigation Process Upon receipt of a report, the designated Integrity Team will initiate an investigation. This process includes:
- Gathering information from the reporting party and any witnesses.
- Reviewing any available evidence, such as messages or recordings.
- Speaking with the accused party to gather their perspective.
Confidentiality Throughout the investigation, confidentiality will be maintained to protect all parties involved. Information will only be disclosed to those directly involved in the investigation and resolution of the incident.
Resolution and Disciplinary Action Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be reviewed and appropriate actions will be determined. The range of disciplinary actions includes but is not limited to:
- A warning and a request for a formal apology.
- Mandatory training or counseling.
- Temporary suspension from the community.
- Permanent ban from the community for severe or repeated violations.
Notification of Outcome Both the reporter and the accused will be informed of the outcome of the investigation. Specific details of any disciplinary action may remain confidential to protect the privacy of all involved individuals.
Appeals Process If the accused party disagrees with the disciplinary decision, they may appeal the decision within a specified timeframe. The appeal must be substantiated with additional information or evidence that was not considered during the initial investigation. The appeal will be reviewed by a separate committee, which will either uphold or amend the initial decision.
Prevention and Education In addition to addressing violations, our policy includes proactive measures to prevent future incidents. This involves regular training sessions on the Code of Conduct and the values our community upholds.
